I'm running for the Montgomery County Board of Education, District 3, because I believe every family in this county deserves a voice in how our schools are run, and right now, too many families feel shut out. The 2025 Supreme Court ruling allowing parents to opt their kids out of LGBTQ+-inclusive instruction was a turning point for me. I have a daughter who just started kindergarten and a son who'll follow her into MCPS in a few years, and I want them, and every child in this county, to grow up in a school system that communicates honestly, spends its budget transparently, and treats accountability as something to embrace rather than avoid.
Expand mental health resources and training for staff who work directly with students, and increase funding and access to restorative justice, rather than relying on School Resource Officers.
Ensure comprehensive, age-appropriate anti-bias education, consistently enforced reporting protocols, and accurate, culturally responsive teaching of history and identity, including Jewish history, the Israeli experience, and LGBTQ+-inclusive instruction.
Strengthen the foundation MCPS gives its youngest learners, setting kids up for success from the start.
Fund schools using need-based service categories, like compensatory education, EML, and special education, rather than race-based allocation, so resources go where the data shows they're needed most.
Treat technology as the last tool reached for, not the default, and ensure any tech or screen-time audit explicitly covers generative AI tools.
Fix MCPS's fragmented, delayed, and overwhelming communication with families, especially in emergencies, replacing the current patchwork of apps and long newsletters with something clearer and more consistent.
